Seven Ways to Wear a Beaded Shoulder Bag
Chaya MobasserShare
A hand-beaded bag can seem like a precious object, something to be admired more than used. But the best ones are the opposite: they are built to be worn often, and they make almost any outfit look better. Here are seven ways to put one to work.
1. With a White Tee and Jeans
This is the simplest and best place to start. A plain white tee, a pair of jeans, and a beaded bag is the kind of outfit that looks polished and takes a minute to put together. The bag does all the work.
2. With a Slip Dress
A slip dress and a beaded bag is a classic evening combination. The bag adds texture and light to something smooth and simple.
3. With Crochet
Beadwork and crochet share a handmade quality, which is why they work so well together. Wear the The Rëef Bag in turquoise and coral with a cream crochet piece, and the two textures complement each other.

4. With Animal Print
A gold or champagne bag looks unexpectedly good against a bold print. The The Cöpacabana Bag shown here with a leopard-print dress by the pool is a strong example: the metallic beadwork picks up the warm tones in the print.

5. With All Black
A monochrome black outfit becomes something special with a pattern. The The Eyë Bag adds color and personality to black, and it is hard to miss.

6. With Linen and Neutrals
A cream linen set, a soft sweater, or a neutral dress becomes more interesting with a bag that has a touch of color. The The Balï Bag with its delicate floral pattern is made for this pairing.
7. With Nothing Else
Sometimes the right choice is a simple outfit and no other accessories at all. Let the bag be the only detail. A beaded bag is a complete accessory on its own.
How to Carry It
Our shoulder bags have an arched handle that sits comfortably on the shoulder or in the crook of the arm. For evenings, you can also hold the bag in your hand by the top of the handle. Keep the contents light, and the bag will keep its shape.
A Word on Care
Handmade beadwork is durable, but it appreciates gentle treatment. Store it in a dust bag, keep it away from sharp objects, and wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth. Our care guide explains more.
Where Beaded Bags Come From
Each bag is hand-beaded in India using Adda embroidery. If you want to know how it is done, we wrote about it in The Art of Adda Embroidery.
